SSL offers full container load ocean freight services from just about every exit port or rail point in the Continental United States to almost every major point in the world. Not only is this service virtually unmatched by any vessel operator, but in most cases any SSL office can offer instantaneous quotes over the phone - (door pick-ups, door deliveries or other special services may require extra time to formulate).

SSL is also very adept at handling flat rack, open top, and out-of-gauge (oog) cargoes. In many cases we can quote instantaneously on this type of traffic also.

Our target market is primarily the small to medium sized foreign freight forwarder, larger multi-national freight forwarders who do not have worldwide contracts, household goods & personal effects movers, and shippers who do not utilize the services of a freight forwarder. Due to our pooled large volume of traffic, we can enable this client base to compete with volume players; at the same time serving as a marketing and sales agent for vessel operators whose sales force primarily focuses on clients commanding larger volumes of containers.

The SSL US West Coast offices (SEA, OAK, LAX) operate a dedicated, all-water, weekly groupage service to the United Kingdom via Evergreen Line; and a fortnightly groupage service to the South Pacific Islands (Tahiti, American Samoa, Samoa) via Polynesia Line. SSL (CA) Inc. (SEA, OAK, LAX, HOU) also operate a nationwide groupage service to New Zealand via Maersk Line's direct service.
